A Place for the Unwilling is a story-driven adventure game where the city itself takes center stage as the main character. With no puzzles or "game over" moments, the experience focuses on you, the city, and the many unfolding narratives within its boundaries. Time moves forward, and the city's future remains uncertain.
I am real. There are others like me—nothing more than empty streets lined with lifeless buildings and monuments, illuminated by flickering streetlights—but that is not my story. I possess a body, yes, but also a mind and a heart. I feel the people moving within me, I hear the countless conversations echoing through my streets, and I witness beings from other worlds walking among the shadows. These are the shadows—what you might call people. They are all different, yet to me, they often look the same. But if I listen closely, I can hear them whisper their names to one another. And when I do, the blur fades, and I see a single, distinct soul with hopes and fears. These are the streets that define me. Winding, twisted paths where filth and disease hide in every shadow. Some of the shadows live in opulence, while others barely survive. Both the divine and the damned were born in my veins, and they have never left. Lately, I have felt unwell. Something foreign has taken root within me. I don’t know how it got there or why, but it is something to be wary of. Darkness can hide even in the brightest places, and no one is truly safe. The coming days will shape the fate of the shadows. The pieces have already been placed, and the game is about to begin. Now, stranger, choose your move, knowing that once it starts, neither of us can stop it. One thing is certain—it will be a journey worth remembering. Who knows? Perhaps even I can fall.
