Summary
Abuse is similar to a side-scrolling platformer. It stands out due to its unique control system: the keyboard controls Nick's movement, while the mouse handles weapon aiming. The core gameplay involves battling a variety of enemies (primarily different types of mutants that tend to attack in massive swarms) and completing straightforward puzzles, often involving switches.
Storyline
The main character of the game, Nick Vrenna, has been wrongfully imprisoned in a facility where the staff conduct cruel and unethical medical experiments on the prisoners. A violent prison uprising erupts, and during the chaos, an experiment spirals out of control. Everyone inside the prison—except Nick, who appears to be unaffected—is exposed to a substance known as Abuse, which mutates them into monstrous creatures. Armed with a laser gun, Nick fights alone to eliminate all the mutants, prevent the spread of the substance, and make his escape from the prison complex.
