Age of Empires: Castle Siege invites you to lead your empire through the Medieval Era on your Windows PC or touchscreen device. Select from a variety of civilizations, including the Britons, Teutons, and Kievan Rus. Strengthen your keep, reinforce your walls, and deploy defensive forces to guard against raiders. Then, build a powerful army to attack other cities and direct them in battle to break down enemy defenses. Age of Empires: Castle Siege was a free-to-play medieval massive multiplayer online tower defense game, developed as a Windows app for Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone. Launched in 2014, the game included microtransactions to accelerate castle development and enhance both defensive and offensive abilities. It was created by Smoking Gun Interactive and Microsoft Studios, with an official announcement made on August 26, 2014. Unlike any previous Age of Empires title, Castle Siege is a tower defense experience. The game became available on iOS in 2015 and on Android in 2017. On November 13, 2018, Microsoft Studios revealed that the game would shut down on May 13, 2019, and it has not been playable since that time.
