Aliens is an arcade game inspired by the 1986 film *Aliens*. You and a partner take on the roles of female Marines tasked with exploring and eliminating all the aliens that have overrun the abandoned space colony LV426 Acheron. If you come across any survivors, attempt to rescue them. In addition to your standard firearm, you can use a variety of other weapons to assist in the mission. One such weapon is the Caterpillar P-5000, which you can also locate and deploy. Aliens is primarily a side-scrolling horizontal shooter, with the screen moving as you progress from left to right. Certain sections of the game require you to look behind your character, firing into the screen as aliens approach from the distance and move in various directions, such as on an elevator. You may also find yourself driving forward into the screen while trying to take down enemies.
The global enterprise Weyland-Yutani Corporation has severed communication with its mining outpost, Hadley's Hope, located on the desolate moon LV426 Acheron. As a result, the Colonial Marine forces aboard the USS Sulaco dispatch a team to conduct a search and rescue mission. Upon arrival, the marines uncover that the facility has been overrun by an unidentified parasitic alien species, with the Hadley's Hope personnel either killed or transformed into incubators for the creatures' next generation.
