Amagon is a Nintendo Entertainment System side-scrolling platformer created by Aicom in 1988. It received significant criticism and failed to gain much acclaim from gaming critics.
In the game, players assume the role of Amagon, a Marine stranded on an island after surviving a plane crash. The objective is to lead Amagon across the island to reach the rescue ship, overcoming various enemies along the way—including the final boss, inspired by the "Flatwoods Monster," a legendary alien said to haunt Flatwoods, West Virginia. In the original Japanese version, the story differs slightly: the protagonist is not a Marine, but a scientist named "Jackson," who uses a special drug to transform into his Macho-Man form.
