Storyline
Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia is set in the world of Sol Ciel, composed of two floating islands linked by the Tower of Ar tonelico. In ancient times, a great civilization flourished under the guidance of the goddesses known as the Trio of Elemia. However, over time, two major catastrophes led to the near-destruction of the world. The first disaster caused the loss of much of the land and sky, while the second wiped out the advanced civilization. Now, in the third era, a new catastrophe is unfolding. Viruses originating from the Altar of Apostles, which typically do not manifest physically, have begun to take the form of monstrous creatures capable of destroying the world. At the top of the Tower lies the city of Platina, home to the Knights of Elemia, whose duty is to manage virus outbreaks and protect the tower. One of these knights, Lyner Barsett, the story's protagonist, must embark on a journey to find the Hymn Crystal, the key to saving the Tower of Ar tonelico and the entire world.
