Arabian is a rare gem in Atari's arcade lineup—a climber/platform hybrid where players guide an aspiring Arabian Knight through a series of settings, fending off monsters and birds that threaten to knock him off and cost a life. The adventure starts on a ship at sea, then moves to an island and finally a castle. Scattered throughout each level are urns marked with letters that must be touched in the correct sequence to spell "ARABIAN" for bonus points—but watch out for a massive genie that occasionally emerges from an urn to snatch any unwary adventurers. The player can climb ladders and ropes, hang from horizontal ropes, and leap from one flying carpet to another (much like crossing logs in Frogger) to progress through each stage.
An Arabian princess has been taken captive, and it's up to you to rescue her by journeying through the four enchanted pages that make up this tale. Gather the sacks of gold from a vessel, a cavern, a wall adorned with magical carpets, and the exterior of the castle where the princess is imprisoned. Standing in your way is an army of pink ghosts and black crows, determined to thwart you at all costs—even uniting to become a far more formidable foe.
