Arkanoid Returns is an arcade title developed by Taito and launched in 1997 as part of the Arkanoid franchise. It marked the fourth entry in the series and the third to debut in arcades. Later, it was brought to the PlayStation, followed by an enhanced home version called Arkanoid R 2000. All iterations were released solely in Japan, making it the only title in the series to never be made available internationally. The antagonist 'DOH' still hasn't received the message and, after years of inactivity, chooses to launch another assault. The 'Vaus' spacecraft must be prepared to tackle both new and familiar obstacles in order to thwart 'DOH' once more. The game's mechanics closely mirror those of Arkanoid: Doh It Again, the prior title released on the Super Nintendo, featuring identical power-ups, reused level layouts, and the same playing field dimensions. The original arcade version includes 50 levels, with the setting shifting every nine stages.
The adversary known as 'DOH' still hasn't received the message and, after years of quiet, has chosen to launch another assault. The 'Vaus' spacecraft must be prepared to confront fresh yet familiar trials in order to finally put an end to 'DOH'.
