Storyline

In the not-so-distant future, an abrupt and unexplained rise in sea levels has submerged much of the world's civilization beneath the waves. Ikaruga Natsuki, a young man who lost both his mother and a leg in a tragic accident years ago, returns from a difficult life in the city to discover his childhood home in the countryside nearly consumed by the ocean. With no family left and little else to his name, all Natsuki possesses is the ship and submarine bequeathed to him by his late grandmother, a renowned oceanographer, along with the debts she left behind. His only chance to reclaim the future he once dreamed of comes in the form of an offer from the enigmatic debt collector, Catherine. Together, they embark on a journey to explore the submerged remnants of his grandmother's research lab, where a fabled treasure is said to be hidden. But what they uncover is not gold or jewels—it's a girl in a coffin resting at the ocean floor. Her name is Atri. Atri is a robot, yet her human-like appearance and deep emotional complexity make her seem entirely real. Grateful for being rescued, she makes a heartfelt promise to Natsuki. "I want to complete my master's last command. Until then, I'll be your leg!"
