Baseball Simulator 1.000 was developed by Culture Brain for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Launched in 1989, it was hailed by Electronic Gaming Monthly as the "Best Sports-Themed Video Game" of that year. Much of its acclaim came from distinctive gameplay elements that distinguished it from the numerous other baseball titles available at the time.
The player can select from four distinct leagues, each featuring unique characteristics in their teams. For instance, one league includes "ultra" teams, where players possess special abilities, while another allows the player to build their own teams and customize a league. The player can also utilize special events and plays, such as Ultra Hits and Ultra pitches. Within this framework, the game offers an exhibition mode and a regular season mode, enabling the player to compete with a selected team through an entire season.
