Basic Programming aimed to introduce the fundamentals of computer programming on the Atari 2600. It hit the market in 1979 and was among the rare non-game cartridges ever developed for the system. While its language bore a surface resemblance to various versions of BASIC, it had significant differences in key areas. The Atari 2600’s extremely limited RAM—just 128 bytes—greatly hampered the cartridge’s ability to run more complex programs.
