Batman: Arkham City Lockdown, a spin-off game created by NetherRealm Studios for iOS, launched on December 7, 2011. Set prior to the events of Arkham City, the game features touchscreen-based combat where players take on foes like Two-Face, Solomon Grundy, Joker, and the hired gun Deathstroke in one-on-one battles. Players earn points by defeating enemies, which can then be used to enhance Batman’s abilities, unlock new gadgets, or access different costumes.
Following the announcement of Arkham City, a massive super-prison built within the crumbling urban underbelly of Gotham City, by Mayor Quincy Sharp, the Joker escapes from Arkham Asylum, with several other villains joining him to unleash chaos across the city. Determined to stop the fugitives, Batman first confronts Two-Face, defeating him and his gang on the streets. He then takes down Penguin and his crew, who had broken out of Blackgate Penitentiary, as well as Solomon Grundy in the sewers. Later, Batman faces the assassin Deathstroke and his henchmen, hired by Arkham City warden Hugo Strange, at the Steel Mill, but emerges victorious, leaving them to be captured and sent back to Blackgate. Meanwhile, Strange begins devising a new strategy to overcome the Dark Knight in the future.
