Battle Circuit is a 2D side-scrolling beat 'em up presented in a comic (manga) style, set in a futuristic sci-fi world. A team of bounty hunters is on a mission to capture the eccentric Dr. Saturn, a mad scientist known for his oversized head. The playable roster features five unique characters: Cyber Blue, a human bounty hunter enhanced with cybernetic implants; Captain Silver, a shape-shifting humanoid capable of emitting ice particles from his body; Pink Ostrich, a massive, sentient pink ostrich who travels with its young owner, Pola Abdul; Yellow Iris, a part-time fashion model with retractable claws; and Alien Green, a bizarre alien lifeform resembling a large, animated plant. The gameplay follows the classic beat 'em up formula, similar to titles like Final Fight, Streets of Rage, or Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. Players move rightward through levels, defeating enemies with a variety of attacks, collecting power-ups and currency, and facing off against bosses such as Dr. Saturn and his mechanical creations. As players progress, they can use coins gathered from defeated foes to buy special "upgrade discs" that enhance their abilities after completing each stage.
Set in the futuristic year 20XX, *Battle Circuit* follows a team of powerful bounty hunters as they track down fugitives marked by unique serial numbers in the metropolis of Neo Koba. The game opens with the player pursuing criminal 9696X—Doctor Saturn, a scientist accompanied by his gelatinous assistant—aboard a spaceship circling Earth. Following the confrontation, the player's chosen character returns to their boss, Harry, who immediately assigns a new mission: capturing Johnny, a member of the "Delete Gang" who possesses a crucial floppy disk. The bounty hunter then faces off against Johnny in his disco-themed lair and discovers that the disk contains a dangerous program called the "Shiva (Tentei) System," capable of taking control of all global computer systems. After choosing a playable character, players must navigate through multiple stages, battling enemies from the Delete Gang, to retrieve the disk and collect their reward.
