Summary
The SYD mission was a success, but the current era was just one of many under siege. The invaders also journeyed through time, seeking to alter history itself. Only the six prototype space-time warships known as ZIG could stop them, but they were ambushed during launch. Now stranded in the past, they have no means of returning to their own time. Bermuda Triangle is a scrolling shooter developed by the creators of Ikari Warriors. The player must endure each of the 9 levels, which scroll both vertically and horizontally, long enough to reach and defeat the final boss. The ZIG, a much larger vessel than typical scrolling shooter ships, can withstand multiple hits before being destroyed. It is equipped with a forward-facing cannon and a rotating turret capable of firing in eight directions. SYD ships can be collected during levels and will fly alongside the ZIG in four different formations. They can shield the player from enemy fire but will be destroyed if struck by enemy ships. Energy pickups can either restore lost health or, when health is full, enhance the firepower of both the ZIG and SYDs. The arcade version features a rotary joystick for turret control, while the PlayStation version assigns turret controls to the shoulder buttons.
