BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea is a two-part single-player add-on for BioShock Infinite. The story is set in the submerged city of Rapture prior to the events of the original BioShock game. Work on the downloadable content for Infinite began right after the completion of the main game. Irrational Games was eager to revisit the world of Rapture and use Infinite's mechanics to portray the city in its pre-collapse state. The two episodes of Burial at Sea received a mixed response. While many praised the return to Rapture, the first episode faced criticism for being too brief and lacking unique gameplay elements. The second episode was better received, with several critics hailing it as a worthy farewell to Irrational Games' contributions to the BioShock series, as the company underwent restructuring.
The game stars Booker DeWitt as a private investigator and Elizabeth as a mysterious woman who hires Booker for her mission.
