Bokujō Monogatari: Shiawase no Uta is the fourteenth entry in the Bokujō Monogatari series to launch on the GameCube. It was exclusive to Japan and never made available elsewhere. Eight months later, an updated version was released as Bokujō Monogatari: Shiawase no Uta for Wārudo. Natsume handled the localization of this revised edition, releasing it internationally as Harvest Moon: Magical Melody. The game features several notable differences: Jamie cannot be married. The shelf and refrigerator have reduced storage capacity. The game's balance was not reworked. It suffers from various bugs and occasional freezes.
The Harvest Goddess has transformed into stone, overcome by sorrow due to the villagers' neglect, and a farmer named Jamie—whose gender aligns with the player's—vows to rescue her. A year later, a new rancher arrives in Flowerbud Village, defaulting to Adam if male or Amanda if female, and is assisted by Theodore, the mayor, in establishing their farm. The protagonist also encounters the Harvest Sprites, who ask for their aid in restoring the Harvest Goddess by gathering enchanted musical notes. Jamie soon becomes the protagonist's competitor. As the player tends to their farm, they meet a variety of characters, some familiar from *Back to Nature*, *Save the Homeland*, and *A Wonderful Life*, and strive to build friendships and offer support. In the end, the Harvest Goddess is brought back to life, and Jamie departs in disgrace. The protagonist then marries one of the eligible partners and may choose to have a child (if they marry Jamie, they both leave town, concluding the story). Once all the notes are collected, Jamie is heartbroken, but the Goddess inspires them to embrace selflessness, bringing their rivalry to a close.
