Summary
Bomberman Party Edition, referred to as Bomberman in Japan and Europe, is the PlayStation adaptation of the original 1983 Bomberman game. Alongside retro-style visuals for solo play, the game also includes an option for improved graphics.
A new Battle mode is introduced in this version, offering 8 distinct courses with 3 stages each.
The solo gameplay closely mirrors the 1983 version of Bomberman. Players take control of Bomberman in a large grid filled with both destructible and indestructible blocks. Bombs can be used to blast through the blocks, which may hide power-ups that boost Bomberman’s speed, increase bomb blast radius, allow more bombs to be placed at once, or grant special abilities like remote detonation, wall passage, or bomb immunity. Some power-ups are temporary, providing short-term protection from bombs or enemies.
The objective in each level is to eliminate all the monsters and then uncover the hidden door beneath a random block.
After completing several levels, players can enter a bonus stage where they are invincible and must destroy an endless wave of enemies to accumulate points and earn extra lives.
Like Super Bomberman, the single-player mode features a variety of themed levels.
