Brain Drain is a puzzle game where players must replicate a displayed pattern made up of various symbols, such as apples or hearts, shown in the corner of the screen. The main grid is filled with these symbols, but they are shuffled. The player controls a frame that highlights four symbols at a time. Pressing a button causes those symbols to rotate clockwise within the frame. Naturally, each level must be completed within a set time limit. At higher difficulty settings, players encounter special effects that can disrupt gameplay—such as symbols being hidden behind "?" blocks, symbols spinning independently, or reversed controls. Three power-ups can be obtained by finishing bonus levels or completing regular levels quickly: the clock (pauses time for 20 seconds), the flash (skips the current level), and the credit (grants a second attempt if time runs out). The clock and flash must be used manually, while the credit activates automatically. In addition to the standard mode, there's also "Brain Race," a mode where players must solve a set number of levels (depending on the difficulty) as quickly as possible.
