Fire Emblem: Archanea Senki-hen is a standalone title released in four parts, developed using the same engine as Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem. It is set between the prologue and the first chapter of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. The game was exclusively released in Japan and was distributed through the Stellaview add-on for the Super Famicom. Each part of the game featured a single map with a time limit, with the objective being to accumulate as many points as possible before time ran out, all while keeping your Lord unit from being defeated. Much of the game's dialogue was voice-acted and included both original characters and familiar faces from Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, Shadow Dragon, and The Blade of Light. The game was later incorporated as an additional mode in the remake of Mystery of the Emblem for the Nintendo DS, titled Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem. This version omitted the time limits and voice acting and was also exclusive to Japan.
Part 1: The Palace's Collapse The Dolhr forces, commanded by the Earth Dragon Medeus, have launched an assault on the Archanea palace. You assume control of Princess Nyna and her loyal troops as they attempt to escape the crumbling stronghold. Their path is blocked by Dolhr soldiers, whom you must overcome. The leader of this chapter is Nyna, a bishop, supported by Boah, another bishop; Tomas, an archer; Midia, a paladin; and Dolph and Macellan, both Armor Knights. Part 2: The Crimson Dragon Knight Minerva uncovers that deserters from her Medonian army are raiding villages near Aurelis. Despite being enemies, she forms an alliance with Hardin to confront the renegades. The leaders in this chapter are Minerva, a dragon knight, and Hardin, a cavalier. Their allies include Catria and Est, both Pegasus Knights; Wolf, a horseman; Roshea, a cavalier; and Frost, a bishop. Part 3: The Just Thieves Several days have passed since the Archanea palace was overrun. Rickard and Lena, together with Navarre and Castor, infiltrate the palace to steal valuables to help the needy—and possibly themselves. The leader of this chapter is Rickard. He is joined by Lena, his sister; Navarre, a mercenary; Castor, a hunter; Dice, a fighter; and Malice, another mercenary. Part 4: A New Start Two years have passed since Archanea's fall. Nyna is now under the protection of the Grustian Sable Knights, led by Camus. Yet, she remains constantly hunted by Medeus’ forces. Camus decides the best course is to travel to Aurelis, seeking refuge and protection from Prince Hardin. The leaders of this chapter are Nyna, a bishop, and Camus, a paladin. Their companions include Reiden and Belf, both cavaliers; and Robert, a horseman.
