Bucky O'Hare

Summary

This game is based on the animated TV show Bucky O'Hare and the Toad Wars, licensed by Hasbro, Inc. Though it's primarily a side-scrolling fighter with a layout reminiscent of Final Fight, the main character also wields a laser gun, incorporating aspects of a scrolling shooter. When in close proximity to an opponent, the character will switch to hand-to-hand combat—foreshadowing the style later seen in Metal Slug, where characters use knives in melee situations. Like the cartoon, the game showcases vibrant animation and features voice actors from the original series in the game's cut scenes. Players can choose from five main characters: Bucky O'Hare, the rabbit captain of the spaceship Righteous Indignation; Jenny, a telepathic "Aldebaran cat"; Dead-Eye Duck, a four-armed mallard; Willy, an Earth-born kid who replaced the ship's engineer; and Blinky, a one-eyed android. As in the TV series, the characters must stop the Toad Empire from conquering alien worlds and subjugating their inhabitants. To achieve this, they must battle through legions of brainwashed toads to defeat the villainous computer program known as "Komplex" and free the "Interplanetary Life Force." Among the game's foes are Al Negator, Toadborg, Total Terror Toad, a "Cyborg Spider," numerous Toad Storm Troopers, the Toads' Air Marshall, and "Komplex-2-Go," a character who also appears in the comic book and cartoon continuities.
