This unreleased addition to the Castlevania series introduced 3D visuals and allowed players to take control of either Victor or Sonia Belmont in their mission to defeat a countess determined to resurrect Count Dracula once more. Castlevania: Resurrection was set to be the first Castlevania game developed by Konami's U.S. branch, but it was ultimately cancelled on March 30, 2000.
The game was intended to be set in 3D environments, where time travel would bring Sonia Belmont and Victor Belmont together. The narrative was planned to unfold in 1666. Victor Belmont was a vampire hunter from the 1800s who had distanced himself from his family's legacy and fled the area, fearing his destiny as a vampire killer. The player would confront a female vampire as the primary antagonist.
