Summary
Commanders, gather your forces! CHECK vs. MATE introduces an interactive feather duster, bringing the classic chess game concept into the modern multimedia era. Animated fantasy figures gather in enchanted realms, ready for your orders! As a Commander, perform strategic moves on the board and dive headfirst into battle with powerful attacks, piece against piece.
Following a 2012 lawsuit from Interplay Entertainment over IP infringement, "Battle Chess" versus "Battle vs Chess," the game and its DLCs and editions were rebranded as Check vs. Mate and digitally launched in North America.
While the content remained unchanged, the game received a new listing on Steam under the updated title, as Battle vs Chess had Steam trading cards not connected to the NA version.
This also resulted in differing Steam keys across online stores for the game and its DLCs and editions, causing some issues at the time.
