Summary
A classic side-scrolling beat 'em up inspired by the Stallone movie of the same name. Sly has to battle gangs of henchmen and overcome environmental obstacles as he hunts for stolen money cases scattered across the Rocky Mountains. The gameplay mirrors the style of *Final Fight*, with combat sequences interspersed with climbing, running, and even 3-D snowboarding on the Sega CD to escape avalanches.
The enemies are typical street brawlers, sometimes armed with weapons like guns and knives that the player can collect. The game alternates between overcoming natural challenges—like climbing steep cliffs or jumping across gaps—and intense fighting segments. The move set is more limited than in similar titles, and hit detection is less precise, making combat feel a bit less responsive.
The storyline mirrors the film exactly, with levels either directly based on or inspired by key scenes from the movie. On cartridge-based systems, animated cutscenes advance the plot, while the Sega CD version features short clips from the original film between levels.
