Clock Tower II: The Struggle Within, referred to as Clock Tower: Ghost Head in Japan, is a PlayStation point-and-click survival horror title and the third entry in the Clock Tower series. It was developed and released by Human Entertainment on March 12, 1998, in Japan, and later published by Agetec in North America on October 31, 1999. The game was made available as part of the PlayStation Classic lineup on the Japanese PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3 on May 9, 2012. This entry serves as a standalone story with minimal ties to the Barrows/Burroughs family or Scissorman, and Hifumi Kono did not participate in its creation. Unlike many other games in the series that are set in Europe, this one is located in Osaka, Japan. For the North American release, the setting was altered to Salinas, California, and the characters were given Western names. However, traces of Japanese text remain visible in the hospital entrance, and the opening sequence features Japanese-style architecture, including a Shinto shrine. The game also includes a variety of rooms and elements inspired by traditional Japanese design, such as samurai armor.
