Storyline

The conflict began as a growing war between terrorists opposing wealth and inequality and counter-terrorists seeking to cut military spending. The United States initiated the 'Super Soldier Project' in a bid to develop a being surpassing human limits, one capable of eradicating the terrorists. Despite his relentless dedication, Dr. Rex, a tireless researcher and renowned expert in biomechanical engineering, ultimately failed to meet his goals. Just when hope seemed lost, Dr. Rex received an anonymous letter containing a report about a 'walking corpse' in Europe. The detailed account, complete with location information, sparked a vision in Dr. Rex's mind. Without hesitation, he sent a team of researchers to the town of Heorgen to investigate and collect samples for his research. In the early 1900s, whispers spread of a derelict warehouse where a clandestine religious sect was said to worship witches and fire. Local officials exploited these rumors to brutally hunt and kill the so-called 'heretics' in pursuit of power and prestige. Out of hatred for the living, the slain corpses emitted a foul stench carrying an unknown virus. The virus used the dead as hosts, spreading rapidly and creating new infected hosts. This led the European Union to eventually isolate the area and impose strict containment. Regardless of the ethical implications, Dr. Rex's team managed to smuggle the virus into a hidden research facility, where he continued his experiments. Unaware of the consequences, he eventually developed the 'Rex Virus.' After testing on numerous subjects, he believed he had finally produced the perfect Super Soldiers. That belief shattered when the subjects began displaying unusual behavior. They progressively lost their sanity and turned on the researchers, exhibiting actions that could only be described as... zombielike.
