Crazy Kong is an arcade game developed by Falcon and launched in 1981. It closely resembles Nintendo's Donkey Kong, though it is often incorrectly thought to be an unauthorized copy. In reality, it was an officially licensed title for non-US regions and was built on different hardware. The game keeps all the core gameplay features of Donkey Kong but features entirely new artwork and color schemes. Falcon was permitted to manufacture a limited number of printed circuit boards (PCB) and prohibited from shipping them to the US. However, the company violated the agreement by producing over 9,000 extra units and exporting them to the United States. As a result, Nintendo ended the licensing deal on January 29, 1982. A follow-up version titled Crazy Kong Part II was later released.
