Daisenryaku II: Campaign Version is a turn-based military strategy game that builds upon the mechanics established in Daisenryaku II. Up to four players can compete against each other or the computer, each controlling a distinct colored army—blue, red, green, or yellow. Players generate units and vehicles, maneuvering them across a hexagonal grid with the goal of capturing the opponent's key cities and ports. The game features a central campaign that provides an introduction and historical context for the fictional nations at war. Additionally, it offers at least a dozen different maps for play, some based on real-world geography. The MSX and PC Engine (TurboGrafx) CD editions boast improved visuals, full-screen battle scenes with detailed backgrounds, and a wealth of extra maps.
