Digimon World DS, referred to in Japan as Digimon Story (デジモンストーリー Dejimon Sutōrī?), is a role-playing video game and the first Digimon title developed for the Nintendo DS. Despite its localized name suggesting a connection to the Digimon World series, it is actually a separate entry, though it shares similarities with Digimon World 3. In the game, players take on the role of a Digimon tamer, setting out on an adventure to discover, train, raise, and command over 230 distinct Digimon. Players can construct Digi-Farms to nurture, evolve, and interact with their Digimon companions. Through Wi-Fi and local wireless connectivity, players can connect with others to trade Digimon, battle, and collaborate to breed rare Digimon. To date, the game has inspired four follow-ups: Digimon World Dawn and Dusk, Digimon Story Lost Evolution, Digimon Story: Super Xros Wars Red and Blue, and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth.
