TaleSpin is a side-scrolling shooter video game inspired by the Disney TV series TaleSpin. Created by Capcom and released for the NES in 1991, it was later adapted for the Game Boy in 1992. The Game Boy edition is a simplified version of the original. In the game, players pilot Baloo’s aircraft, "The Sea Duck," through each stage, dodging enemies and obstacles while fending them off. Collectible items provide additional lives or boost the player’s cash total. The plane can be flipped to fly backward through the level, but this is only possible in horizontally scrolling sections. Each stage concludes with a boss battle, where the player must target the enemy’s weak spots with continuous fire. After completing a level, players can use their earned money to upgrade Baloo’s plane before moving on. Special bonus stages let players take control of Kit, riding an airfoil to burst balloons and earn extra points.
In this game, Baloo and Kit embark on a mission to deliver cargo for Rebecca Cunningham. But Shere Khan, determined to ruin Rebecca's business, enlists the Air Pirates, commanded by Don Karnage, to carry out his sabotage. In the NES and Game Boy versions, Baloo must transport his cargo around the globe while fending off pirates who seek to stop him. Players take control of Baloo in his aircraft, The Seaduck, though during bonus levels, they switch to controlling Kit on his airfoil.
