Dofus Retro

Summary

Dofus Retro is a new server option introduced in Dofus in 2019. The purpose of Retro is to allow players to experience the game as closely as possible to its original form before the visual changes brought by version 2.0. Some players hold a deep fondness for version 1.29 of DOFUS. That's why new servers have been created to let them relive the game as it was nearly a decade ago. Two 1.29 servers—Eratz and Henual—have always remained active. Traditionally, Ankama maintained them to ensure Latin American players, who might not have had the necessary hardware to fully enjoy DOFUS 2.0, weren't at a disadvantage. Now, all players can access this experience simply by subscribing.

Storyline

Long ago, a dragon named Bolgrot appeared in the eternal Province of Amakna. The young Rykke Errel was the only one brave enough to confront the fearsome beast. Rather than turning him to ash as it could have, the dragon knelt before the young knight and pledged its allegiance. Weeks turned into months, and Rykke met Helsephine, a gifted enchantress, and became deeply smitten with her. When he introduced Helsephine to Bolgrot, Rykke could never have foreseen what followed. The dragon, overcome with fury, took the gentle Helsephine's life and fled, leaving destruction in its wake. Rykke pursued the dragon into its lair. When he found it, the once close companions clashed in an epic battle. With his weapons and magic, Rykke managed to bring Bolgrot down. But mortally wounded, the young hero passed away shortly after. Seeking to understand Bolgrot's sudden violence, the sages of Amakna found six oddly colored eggs inside the dragon's remains. These were named DOFUS. Later, it was revealed that when the eggs were brought together, their power was limitless. Limitless, yet unpredictable. The sages chose to hide these dangerous artifacts from the world. For centuries, the existence of the DOFUS remained a closely guarded secret, until people forgot they ever existed. But on a fateful day, the keepers of the secret learned that the DOFUS had vanished. The news spread fast, sparking fear and greed. Soon, adventurers flocked to Amakna, lured by the promise of fame or riches. From that moment on, the fate of Amakna hung in the balance, and the emergence of countless strange and terrifying creatures only deepened the chaos.
