Dokapon makes his PlayStation debut with a board game featuring RPG elements. The gameplay follows a traditional board game format, offering a top-down 2D perspective and 3D battle sequences. Combat uses a standard turn-based RPG system, where players choose the right action each turn. Defeating the main enemy in each level unlocks new areas of the kingdom.
In the Dokapon Kingdom, everyone is fond of money, but one day this peaceful land is suddenly invaded by monsters who attack the castle and the villages. The people are pushed into poverty, and the King no longer collects taxes, so he summons four courageous knights to eliminate all the monsters. Players take control of one of these knights (with eight unique characters to choose from, each featuring distinct attacks and traits) and begin their battle against the monsters in the castle. The gameplay involves spinning a roulette to determine how many spaces a player can move. Each space may contain items, magical objects, traps, inns, shops, or enemies.
