Summary
Donkey Kong Country 2 is a reimagining of the classic SNES title Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. It serves as the second entry in the series of remakes that bring the original Country trilogy to the Game Boy Advance.
Storyline
It was a peaceful, bright day on Donkey Kong Island. Funky Kong is spotted riding the waves on a surfboard before tumbling off into the sea. He invites Donkey Kong to join in the fun, but the hero remains laid back and uninterested. Cranky Kong approaches, grumbling about how Donkey never takes a break, always "winning over maidens and chucking barrels every single day," but Donkey pays no mind, convinced of his hero status and certain that King K. Rool is finished for good. Cranky eventually walks away. Up above, Kaptain K. Rool, commanding his ship, The Flying Krock, orders his crew to attack the island and capture Donkey Kong. This time, he vows, the banana heist will succeed and the hero will never interfere with his schemes again. Donkey, still relaxed, remains unaware of the ambush until the Kutlasses spring into action and seize him. Kaptain K. Rool coldly tells Donkey Kong that he'll never see his beloved island or his friends again. Back on the island, Diddy, Dixie, and Cranky Kong discover Donkey is missing, along with a message. It says: Hah-arrrrh! We've got the big monkey! If you want him back, you landlubbers, you'll have to hand over the banana stash! Kaptain K. Rool Wrinkly, Funky, and Swanky Kong arrive at the scene. Cranky proposes giving up the bananas, but Diddy argues that Donkey Kong would be furious if he lost them after all the effort to reclaim them last time. Diddy and Dixie Kong then set off on Enguarde the Swordfish to Crocodile Isle, beginning their mission.
