Doom Resurrection is a rail-based shooter survival horror game created by Escalation Studios under the guidance of John Carmack and released by id Software. It came out on June 26, 2009. The game's setting runs alongside that of Doom 3 and incorporates assets from the earlier title.
The game follows an unidentified marine, a lone survivor of Bravo Team from the events of Doom 3. He awakens to find himself face-to-face with Dr. Garret, who introduces him to Sam, a flying drone capable of unlocking doors and accessing computer systems. Guided by Sam, the survivor navigates the Mars facility, fending off hordes of zombies and demons as he progresses through the base. His objective is to reach a launch port, where a spacecraft carrying remaining UAC survivors is set to depart. Along the journey, the marine encounters other survivors, gathers crucial data with Sam’s help, and ventures into Hell, sealing the portals that unleash demons. In the end, the marine is forced to abandon Dr. Garret, and Sam gives its life to hold a door shut during the ship's escape, leaving behind evidence that implicates the UAC. The marine makes it aboard the vessel and escapes Mars alongside a handful of other survivors.
