Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden (ドラゴンボールZ 超究極武闘伝, Doragon Bōru Z Chō Kyūkyoku Butōden, lit. "Dragon Ball Z Super Ultimate Fighter") is a 2D fighting game developed for the Nintendo 3DS. The title was first revealed in the April edition of Shueisha's magazine, announcing that the 2D brawler would launch on the 3DS platform that summer. The game includes more than 100 playable characters in single and team-based combat. It also offers a story mode that lets players experience key sagas from the perspective of heroes or villains. A demo was made available to Japanese 3DS users through a downloadable code, allowing players to take control of Goku, Vegeta, Teen Gohan, and Buu across five different stages. Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden was released in Japan on June 11, 2015. Two days prior, on June 9, reports surfaced that the game had been submitted for classification by the Australian ratings board on June 4, suggesting potential international release plans. Bandai Namco officially confirmed the game's Western launch on June 23, setting a window for mid to late October.
