Summary

Draugen is a first-person psychological horror adventure that takes place in the dramatic fjords and rugged mountains of Norway’s stunning western coast. The game offers a dark and unsettling exploration of the shadowy core of Norwegian national romanticism, experienced through the perspective of an American nature photographer, botanist, and entomologist.

Storyline

Draugen is set in the early 1920s and uncovers the most chilling and hidden truths of an isolated fishing village where every resident has vanished without a trace. As the player wanders through the quiet, abandoned hamlet, collecting hints and recollections, and piecing together the events of a devastating catastrophe, they will uncover the village’s past and the lives of those who once called it home. And they will come to understand that beneath the surface of even the most harmless appearances lies the possibility of evil. But there is more to this place than first appears. At times, a woman dressed in black can be glimpsed in the distance. Who is she, and what ties her to this forsaken land? Who is the young girl softly humming fractured lullabies as the daylight fades? And when night descends, and the final precious drops of kerosene in the lamp burn low in a trembling, uncertain glow, what lurks in the shadows and the frigid, endless sea beyond?
