Summary

Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter is a 2D platform video game created by 5th Cell and published by THQ for the Nintendo DS, launching in October 2009 across all regions except Japan. It serves as a follow-up to the original Drawn to Life and a companion to the Wii edition, though it follows a distinct storyline. A key aspect of the game is the player's ability to create in-game elements by drawing, with a strong focus on this creative feature throughout the experience.

Storyline

The game opens with a dreamlike scene in which an unidentified figure poses the question, “What do you remember about that day?” The player is then presented with multiple dialogue options that gradually piece together a detailed account of the event, though its significance remains unclear at this point. Before the main story begins, the player is prompted to sketch a depiction of this enigmatic scene, introducing them to the game's central drawing mechanic. This is followed by an animated sequence featuring Heather, a character from the previous game, as she awakens from a disturbing nightmare. She is seen wearing a crimson gem pendant. In the same sequence, Heather is taken by a shadowy force that originates from a scepter she had found inside a treasure chest washed up on the shore during the night. The next day, when the others realize she's gone, their search for her is abruptly halted by Wilfre, who causes most of the Raposa villagers to disappear, reveals himself as Heather's abductor, and drains the village of all color. The surviving characters escape to the back of a colossal turtle, summoned by the Creator at their request. With their numbers greatly diminished and their home destroyed, the game follows the Raposa's journey to reunite with their missing companions and, with the help of the Creator's Hero of Creation, stop Wilfre before he achieves his mysterious objectives. The remaining villagers travel through Watersong, Lavasteam, the Galactic Jungle, and Wilfre's Wasteland, a fusion of all three settlements. In Watersong, Mari and Jowee encounter Sock, a character who plays a key role later in the story.
