Driver: Parallel Lines

Summary
Unlike earlier Driver titles, Parallel Lines is set in a single city, New York, rather than multiple locations, though the story shifts between different time periods within the city—1978 and 2006. In response to the lackluster reception of Driv3r, especially its widely criticized on-foot gameplay, Parallel Lines reverts to the style of previous entries in the series, emphasizing driving over other mechanics, while still including shooting elements.
Storyline
T.K is an 18-year-old kid who recently moved from the countryside to New York City, "looking to make it big." Using his driving talent, he gains a reputation in the criminal underworld as a skilled wheelman and getaway driver for robbers targeting small-time shops. He lives with his childhood friend Ray, who came to the city in 1975 and, after a brief stint as a wheelman, opened Ray's Autos, a custom tuning garage. T.K spends his downtime hanging out in Ray's room, racing, and doing odd jobs around the city, saying that "after a couple of weeks, it felt like home." Ray, aiming to climb the criminal ranks, introduces T.K to Slink, the owner of a popular Harlem club, where T.K earns Slink’s trust by doing jobs for him and showing off his gun skills. He also meets a gangster named The Mexican, who puts T.K to the test by having him deliver packages across the city and prove himself against the previous driver, who The Mexican keeps locked in his trunk as punishment. Later, T.K is introduced to Bishop, a local criminal who asks him to infiltrate Riker's Island and smuggle out Candy, a jailed gangster. At the same time, T.K helps Ray clear his gambling debt by taking on more odd jobs around the city. After connecting with Slink, Bishop, The Mexican, and Candy, T.K is introduced to Corrigan, a corrupt cop who also runs a drug ring. With cocaine becoming a major force in New York's drug scene and set to dominate in the 1980s, Corrigan’s crew wants to take control of the distribution network. Their main obstacle is Rafael Martinez, a Colombian drug lord who controls the market, so they plan to kidnap him and hold him for ransom to fund their own drug empire. After a carefully planned ambush—where Candy’s strategic mind proves vital—they successfully capture Martinez. When the Colombian Cartel gives in and pays the ransom, T.K is picked up and escapes the Cartel’s pursuers across the rooftops, with The Mexican covering his escape. Once the ransom is handed over to Corrigan, he unexpectedly shoots Martinez dead while the others flee. Corrigan then betrays the group, turns on T.K, and shoots him. T.K survives, but is arrested, put on trial, and sentenced to 28 years in the infamous Sing-Sing prison.
