Dungeon Siege III (DSIII or DS3) is an action role-playing game created by Obsidian Entertainment and released by Square Enix for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. Chris Taylor, the original mind behind Dungeon Siege, acted as a consultant during the game's development. This title is the third in the series not developed by Gas Powered Games, following Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna by Mad Doc Software and Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony by SuperVillain Studios. It marks the first entry in the series published by Square Enix after the company gained full ownership of the Dungeon Siege franchise. The game launched on June 17, 2011. (wiki, 2014)
The game is set once again in the Kingdom of Ehb, a location that appeared in the first but not the second installment. About 150 years after the events of *Dungeon Siege*, the 10th Legion—long the source of stability and defense for the kingdom for four centuries—has been nearly eradicated. Thirty years prior to the game's timeline, Jeyne Kassynder united the people of eastern Ehb and the Azunite Church against the Legion, which she held responsible for the death of the king, her own father. After a prolonged and vicious war, she succeeded in annihilating the last remnants of the Legion during a battle in the Rukkenvahl Forest, forcing the royalist forces of the young Queen Roslyn to retreat deep into the Glitterdelve mines, where they lost nearly all their strength.
