DX-Ball 2 is a breakout-style game for Microsoft Windows, created by Longbow Games. As a successor to DX-Ball by Michael P. Welch, the sequel is primarily noted for its 16-bit high-color engine, which delivers detailed bricks and vibrant background visuals. The game includes two new Power-Ups, a user-friendly "Kid-Mode," and a hotseat multiplayer option, along with an original soundtrack composed by SideWinder. DX-Ball 2 also introduces the ability to choose from different board sets, letting players pick which set of levels to play. The free demo includes 24 boards split into 6 sets of 4 boards each. Additional board packs can be added for more content, with Board Pack 1 increasing each set to 25 boards, totaling 150. Although five board packs were eventually released, DX-Ball 2 was later replaced by Rival Ball in 2001. A 20th Anniversary edition was announced on August 23rd, 2018, and launched on November 21st, 2018, featuring a new high-resolution board set, additional power-ups, online leaderboards, and a boardset editor.
