Summary

Elevator Action Returns, also referred to as Elevator Action II, is a 1994 run-and-gun arcade game created and released by Taito. It serves as a follow-up to Elevator Action (1983), offering a significantly darker and more realistic atmosphere. The sequel keeps the original's elevator-based gameplay concept but enhances the overall mechanics and introduces a new storyline featuring a paramilitary unit battling a terrorist organization, replacing the previous spy theme.

Storyline

Elevator Action Returns is Taito’s follow-up to their 1983 classic. At the beginning, you pick one of three characters: Kart Bradfield, Edie Burrett, or Jad the Taff. Each has unique abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, along with distinct primary and secondary weapons. Your objective is to retrieve computer data hidden behind red-marked doors in six different buildings. Opening blue doors during the game activates a spinning wheel that offers random rewards when you press the fire button. These rewards can include points, health, machine guns, and rocket launchers. Like the original, you can use elevators to move between floors. You can shoot and destroy objects like barrels and drums, which can help you take down a variety of enemies, including henchmen, zombie soldiers, karate agents, trench-coat thugs, guard dogs, and more. Try to avoid getting hit by enemy fire. Each building is filled with cameras that can be destroyed. If spotted by one, a short siren will sound, giving you a limited time to escape detection. You have a set amount of time to complete each building. If time runs out, the building explodes and you lose a life.
