Epic is a science fiction-themed flight simulator created by Digital Image Design and originally launched for the Amiga and Atari ST platforms by Ocean in late spring 1992. It was later made available for PC systems. Developed over several years and strongly influenced by Battlestar Galactica, this space adventure follows the story of humanity's escape across the domains of the malevolent Rexxons. The game includes eight stages of space combat and flight. For example, you might maneuver your ship through a minefield under a time constraint or take out the Raxxons' communication towers on a planet's surface. While the gameplay may feel somewhat restricted, the vector-based graphics and cutscenes are striking. Players can view their ship from six different angles. The game is most enjoyable with a mouse, and the action is displayed from the cockpit perspective.
