ESPN NFL 2K5 is an American football video game created by Visual Concepts for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox platforms. Released under the Sega Sports and Sega Corporation banners, it marks the sixth entry in the NFL 2K series and the final one to carry official NFL branding until an unannounced follow-up arrives in 2021. The gameplay mimics a live ESPN TV broadcast, incorporating the voices and realistic representations of several ESPN commentators. Originally launched on July 20, 2004, it was the final NFL 2K title to hit shelves before Electronic Arts (EA) secured an exclusive licensing deal with the National Football League (NFL), making the competing Madden NFL series the sole officially licensed football game. It was also the last NFL 2K title developed by Sega.
