The game includes all the tracks from the 2009 season, such as the Marina Bay Street Circuit for night races and the newly added Yas Marina Circuit. It features the 20 drivers who started the 2009 Formula One season, but does not account for any mid-season driver changes. There are 15 driver assistance options that can be toggled on or off, catering to both newcomers and seasoned players. In the multiplayer mode, the amount of assistance adjusts based on the player's skill level through a "Fair Play" system. The game includes slick tires, as well as the newly introduced KERS technology, though in the game it is available on all cars rather than just those that used it in real life. The game offers multiple gameplay options, including Quick Race, Time Trial, and a two-player split-screen mode on the Wii.
