F1 Challenge was the sole Formula One game released on the SEGA Saturn, allowing players to take control of five genuine Formula One vehicles and their drivers (Michael Schumacher, Damon Hill, Jean Alesi, Ukyo Katayama, and Mika Häkkinen), with the option to adjust various car settings before each race, including tire pressure, tire compound, and wing angle. The game includes six available circuits: Hockenheim, Monte Carlo, Suzuka, and three distinct layouts of a fictional track called Neo City, each featuring challenging hairpin bends and high-speed straights. Players can select from two rear-view camera angles (no cockpit view is offered), along with a pop-up display functioning as a rearview mirror. The game holds a FOCA (Formula One Constructors Association) license, granting access to thirteen teams and twenty-six drivers from the 1995 season, though only the five previously mentioned drivers are playable.
