Jogging Race is an exercise-focused title designed for the Family Trainer (known as the Power Pad in North America), a peripheral for the Famicom system. Developed by Human and published by Bandai, it is the fourth game in the company's lineup for the accessory. Like many other titles in the series, it was never released outside of Japan. The concept of working out while playing was ahead of its time, a notion that would later gain widespread popularity with the Nintendo Wii and the Wii Fit series. In Jogging Race, players simulate jogging through various parts of a virtual Tokyo using the Family Trainer pad to mimic the physical activity. The background scrolls at a measured pace, reflecting the real-world scale of the distances covered, and features occasional elements such as other joggers passing by. The game also includes a second mode called Marathon, where players compete against computer-controlled opponents in a long-distance running challenge.
