Storyline

A tremor reveals a long-concealed cavern within Altar Cave, located near the village of Ur on the floating continent. Four young orphans, raised by Topapa, the village elder, investigate the effects of the quake and stumble upon a radiant crystal. The crystal bestows a fragment of its power upon them and commands them to embark on a journey to restore harmony to the world. Though uncertain of the crystal's message, they understand its significance and share their quest with their adoptive family before venturing beyond the familiar lands of their upbringing to fulfill their purpose. As they travel, they uncover the existence of a vast world beyond the floating continent. In the realm below, they encounter Xande, a warlock and one of three apprentices of the legendary Archmage Noah, who seeks to claim the crystals of light to unleash chaos. The four heroes eventually reach the Crystal Tower, where they learn that the Cloud of Darkness is behind the recent turmoil. The Cloud aims to repeat the events of the ancient Flood of Light, dragging the world into oblivion. The Light Warriors journey into the realm of the dark crystals, rescue the imprisoned Dark Warriors, and ultimately defeat the Cloud of Darkness, restoring the crystals and balance to the world. The DS remake includes several optional "side quests" that players can undertake.
