Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi
Summary
Fire Emblem: The Dark Dragon and Sword of Light is the inaugural title in the Fire Emblem series, created by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. It originally launched on the Famicom (marketed internationally as the Nintendo Entertainment System) on April 20, 1990. The game is set on the continent of Archanea and features Marth, a character who later made an appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee. The first international release of the game came as a limited edition port for the Nintendo Switch, using the same title and running a localization script in the background. However, the original version of the game was never officially released outside of Japan.
Storyline
Marth, the prince of Altea and a direct heir of Anri, the legendary warrior who defeated the shadow dragon Medeus, is thrust into exile in the neighboring land of Talis after a brutal assault by the kingdom of Dolhr. Following the death of his father at the hands of the malevolent priest Gharnef, Marth's sister Ellis is captured. With the aid of the loyal Altean knight Jagen, the Talisian princess Caeda, and a band of allies, Marth sets out on a journey to recover the sacred sword Falchion and the Fire Emblem necessary to unlock its power. Only then can he challenge Gharnef and the reborn Medeus, reclaim Altea, and free his sister.
