Summary

Fire Emblem Fates - Special Edition was a time-limited package that included both main storylines, Birthright and Conquest, and granted access to the DLC for the third story, Revelation, once it was released. While the games were otherwise sold individually, the second story path could be purchased digitally at a reduced price. To unlock the other stories and DLC content, players needed to complete chapter 6 in either of the base games. Conquest is considered the most difficult of the three paths, as it lacks the ability to grind experience through maps, features tougher mission goals, and offers less money and experience for completing those missions. Birthright, the easiest route, allows players to use scouting missions to gain experience and money, and has simpler objectives that reward more resources. Revelation sits in between, offering access to scouting missions but with mission goals similar to those in Conquest. These differences are separate from the three in-game difficulty levels. "Two kingdoms are at war – the peaceful Hoshido and the ambitious Nohr – and it's up to the player to choose a side. As the prince or princess of Hoshido, raised by the royal family of Nohr, you'll find yourself caught between two families you care deeply for. No matter which path you choose, you'll encounter unique challenges."
