Football Manager 2008 is the main title in the 2008 edition of the Football Manager series, a line of football management simulation games developed by Sports Interactive. In the United States and Canada, the game is known as Worldwide Soccer Manager 2008, while the South American version is called Fútbol Manager 2008. It features more than 5,000 playable teams from over 50 countries. The demo version of Football Manager 2008 became available on 30 September 2007. Originally scheduled for a 19 October 2007 launch, the release was pushed back to 18 October 2007 after several retailers began distributing the game ahead of schedule. A number of issues were discovered in the game, many of which had been reported to SI Games through their community forum. In response, a "Beta Patch" was issued to address the most critical problems, even though it did not resolve all of them. A full patch was initially planned for 9 November 2007 but faced delays and was eventually released on 22 November 2007. The second and final patch arrived on 14 February 2008 and was updated again on 20 February to tackle three remaining major issues. As with earlier titles in the series, this patch updated the game's database with the latest transfers and resolved a number of lingering bugs.
