Formula One 2001 is a racing video game for the PlayStation and PlayStation 2, developed by Studio 33 for the PS1 and Sony Studio Liverpool for the PS2, and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It launched on April 20, 2001 in Europe, September 24 in North America, and October 11 in Japan. It was the first title to offer support for the Logitech racing wheel (also known as GT Force), exclusive to the PS2. Formula One 2001 marked the final simulation-based Formula One game for the PSone (as the PlayStation was commonly referred to at the time to distinguish it from the PlayStation 2). It was also the last entry in the series to be released in North America before the 2005 launch of F1 Grand Prix on the PlayStation Portable.
